Thyme is available in 6 chemotypes: what is the difference?
In concrete terms, this means that their essence will not have the same chemical composition, and therefore their benefits and uses may be different. At Lacontal, we offer thyme chemotyped as linalol - also defined as linaloliferum. Linalool is therefore the predominant natural molecule.
Elsewhere you may find thymes with chemotypes 'thymol', 'thujanol', 'cavacrol', 'geraniol', 'borneol' which will have different properties and precautions for use.
The cultivation and distillation of thyme in organic farming.
From the beginning, we naturally chose to grow our PPAM* without any pesticides. Our essential oils are labelled Organic Agriculture (AB) by the control and certification body Ecocert. Steam distillation, carried out on site at the farm, is essential: we adapt as closely as possible to the weather conditions and the maturity of the plants to guarantee optimal quality.

The composition of our essential thyme oils is analysed every year.
Chromatographic analysis measures the content of the constituents naturally present in the essential oil. We know the exact quality of our essential oil for each vintage. These analyses are carried out and guaranteed by an independent laboratory.
